Welcome
BACK TO THE FUTURE!

As mentioned in the official invitations, we have designed some fun, challenging formations that no-one has seen for quite a while. The 100-way Diamond and 105-way Wedge will be great challenges and conquests. If/ when all goes well on these dives, we have some nice additional surprises to put in the sky.

We have been rather picky when sending out invites for this event, and have sent them in stages to ensure that the targeted formations will be built solidly from the inside out. One of our most important considerations has been how current our teammates are at building big-ways. We also realize that it will be winter for several months in the northern climes, so many of us might not be very active prior to this event. Having said that, we highly request that all of us do whatever is necessary to ensure we are current, and ready for demanding dives, by the first day of this event.

Building these formations will require a level of patience and focus that is beyond what is typically required for whacker / loop dives. Reading the status of the entire formation prior to docking will be essential. Reading the formation after docking, and adjusting our body positions subtly and correctly throughout each dive will almost certainly be required.

Fall-rate will be one of the more critical issues throughout these dives. Whether it be via equipment, body position, or both, we all need to be prepared to adjust our personal fall-rate on any jump, and be prepared to modify the middle of our range prior to any upcoming jump. Lifting and sinking, relative to others, causes potato-chipping and implosions, and is the death knell of interlocking formations. We do not want to be funneling any of these huge dives. Dressing for success cannot be overstated.

By registering for this event, it will be assumed that each of us has made a personal commitment to be prepared to do our part in every arena to make this special event a grand success.

The Organizing Team greatly looks forward to seeing you 17-20 April 2008, at Skydive Spaceland in Houston, Texas, and anticipates having a safe, fun, and highly successful voyage Back to the Future.

From this point on, Jim Alkek will help usher us through the process of registration, payments, dive reviews, and event updates via this BigWays.com website.

Thanks for participating in this event!

Glorious warm and blue Texas skies,
